Are apparently making peace. Smart move for McCain, but he might have already incurred damage for attacking a guy who is a hero to many conservatives, already wary of McCain
Phil Gramm and McCain
It isn’t simply that John McCain separated himself from the politically idiotic statements made by former Republican Senator Phil Gramm. It’s that he was mean doing it. This might not be of especial importance, except there are conservatives in the Republican Party who trust Phil Gramm, particularly on economic matters, significantly more than they do John McCain. And it isn’t like John McCain’s biggest problem at the moment is too much excitement for his candidacy, particularly from conservatives.
